The university is currently driving an ambitious expansion of the School of Computer Science and Engineering. In this context, a new academic position at the Assistant Professor level (tenure-track) has been opened. Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering (Modern Electrical Engineering) (m/f/d)
(full time; 38.5 hrs./week; tenure track)
Your responsibilities:
You will support our research and teaching activities in the field of Electrical Engineering by establishing an independent research group focusing on research topics related to cutting-edge topics within modern Electrical Engineering. Possible areas of interest are:
- Information and Coding Theory
- Advanced Signal Processing
- Satellite and Space Communications
- RF Engineering and Antenna Systems
- Nano/Optoelectronic Devices
- Optical Communications
- Quantum Engineering and Computing
- Bioelectronics and Flexible Electronics
- Energy-Efficient and Sustainable Electronics
- Automation and Control Systems
The successful candidate is expected to support teaching in Electrical Engineering at the Bachelor and Master level (for example Signals and Systems, Digital Signal Processing, Information Theory); as well as develop and implement innovative, pedagogically sound approaches to online, hybrid and in-person teaching and learning; advise students on their studies; and supervise Bachelor, Master’s and PhD theses and research projects.
The university is highly supportive of junior faculty, providing both formal and informal mentoring, administrative support, as well as a flexible budget for establishing an internationally visible research group. Several opportunities exist to develop multidisciplinary research projects in collaboration with other research groups or our industrial partners, including collaborations in emerging fields such as the use of artificial intelligence in the natural sciences.
Your qualifications and experience:
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Nanoengineering, Quantum Engineering, or a closely related field
- Proven research expertise in one or more modern areas of Electrical Engineering, evidenced by a strong publication record
- Experience teaching fundamental Electrical Engineering courses, with a demonstrated ability to engage and mentor students
- Demonstrable experience in leading or collaborating on funded research projects, with a focus on interdisciplinary approaches and real-world applications
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and experience in mentoring students across undergraduate and graduate levels
- Fluency in English, the language of instruction and communication on campus
