A Postdoctoral position is available beginning immediately in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Clemson University with Dr. Phanindra Tallapragada’s group to work on a project on improving the agility of bioinspired fish-like swimming robots using hydrodynamic sensing. Research in this project will be at the intersection of fluid dynamics (numerical simulations and experiments in a water tunnel), nonlinear dynamics, robotics and machine learning.
The postdoctoral candidate is expected to have a strong background in computational fluid dynamics with experience using OpenFoam being highly desirable. The candidate is also expected to have previous experience or interest in machine learning. The candidate will have the opportunity to work with others in the group on all aspects of the interdisciplinary project.
The candidate is expected to have completed a PhD in Mechanical engineering, Aerospace engineering, Ocean engineering or a related area. The position is for one year and could be renewed for a second year.
