The Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE) is a unique interdisciplinary Research Centre of Excellence (RCE), funded by National Research Foundation, Ministry of Education (Singapore), Nanyang Technological University and National University of Singapore. Hosted by NTU in partnership with NUS, SCELSE is linking new insights from the life sciences with expertise from emerging technologies in engineering and natural sciences to understand, harness and control microbial biofilm communities and microbiomes.
SCELSE is excited to offer an opportunity for a talented Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow in bioinformatics/environmental genomics. This position is part of the research department led by Prof. Stephan C. Schuster, focusing on environmental genomics, culturomics, and biostatistics/bioinformatics.
Key Responsibilities:

Conducting research on the impact of climate change on air quality, focusing on airborne microbial community dynamics and their implications for human health.

Comprehensive exploration of bioaerosol dynamics, analysing environmental microbiomes, and their effects on human health in urban settings.

Integrating bioaerosol data into existing meteorological and climate change studies for a holistic understanding of climate change impacts globally.

Collaborating in an interdisciplinary setting, involving biological, environmental, built environment aspects, and social sciences.

Engaging in the SCELSE’s ultra-low biomass analytics programme and contributing insights from environmental time series studies.
Job Requirements:
-
PhD in Environmental microbiology and metagenomics
-
Prior work experience in related fields are preferred, but junior candidates are also encouraged to apply.

Independent, highly motivated, and able to work collaboratively with wet-lab and computational biologists.
