The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York (SUNY) seeks to fill two positions as Assistant Professor of Teaching (Lecturer) for the Robotics MS program. The positions are 10-month appointments and not tenure-track. We are looking for candidates who can operate effectively in a team environment and diverse community of students and faculty and share our vision of helping all constituents reach their full potential.

The primary purpose of this position is to improve the educational experience for graduate students enrolled in the Engineering Science MS (Robotics) Program. This is a fast-growing interdisciplinary program that provides training in robotics and automated manufacturing. The successful candidate should have an established focus in Industry 4.0 related to advanced manufacturing applications in robotics. The educational benefits of the program are strongly supported by local industry, thus providing theoretical and applied research opportunities in robotics for both faculty and students.

A successful candidate will be expected to assume the following responsibilities:
  • Serve as Instructor for required program courses related to:
    • Development of a digital twin models for robotic systems
    • Artificial intelligence applications in robotics
    • Advanced robotic-based manufacturing including Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT)
    • Data Fusion
  • Serve as Instructor for laboratory courses with a focus in robotics
  • Develop and implement innovative methods to further engage industry
  • Advise and supervise robotics graduate students including those who are working on projects in industrial environments
