Marquette University invites applications for a tenured faculty position at the Associate Professor level in microelectronics, MEMS/NEMS, and microsystems. Exceptional candidates at the Full Professor level may also be considered. We seek applicants advancing next-generation electronic and sensing technologies through device fabrication, modeling, materials, characterization, packaging, or system-level integration. Candidates whose work complements fabrication through simulation, AI-driven design, or applications are encouraged to apply. Specific areas of interest include smart and adaptive sensors; MEMS/NEMS devices and actuators; microelectronics for AI, IoT, and power electronics; advanced materials and heterogeneous integration.
Marquette offers a robust and growing microsystems research ecosystem. The endowed chair will have the opportunity to provide leadership of a Class-1000 micro/nanofabrication cleanroom, an Advanced Microsystems Research Laboratory with a Class-1000 cleanroom for device testing and assembly, and a suite of materials characterization, metrology, and device evaluation facilities. These resources provide a strong platform for both fabrication-focused research and innovative design, modeling, or application-driven programs with opportunities for collaboration across campus and with regional industry partners.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related field; strong research and teaching record; ability to build a funded research program.
Apply: Review of applications begins September 1, 2025, and continues until the position is filled. Submit a cover letter, CV, research and teaching statements, and references. To apply please use: MU.edu/laffertyece.
