Post Doctoral Fellow - Optical Turbulence and Control

Description
A postdoctoral researcher position is available in Optical Turbulence and Control at Clemson University in South Carolina. The candidates will work with faculty mentors and researchers in the departments of Mechanical, Electrical and Material Science Engineering, as well as Chemistry and will be supervised by Prof. R. J. Watkins. The appointment is for one year but may be extended for an additional 1-2 years. 

The postdoctoral researcher will participate in interdisciplinary, funded research programs related to the propagation of coherent light in turbulent environments and its spatial and temporal control. This project is part of Clemson’s Engineered Light Research Center. The postdoctoral candidate is expected to conduct research within a larger team to include multiple universities and should have strong technical, communication, and project management skills. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Candidates should hold a PhD degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering or a related field with documented qualifications as follows: at least two or more years of related, or equivalent, experience in optics and laser technology; fluency in English; excellent communication skills; demonstrated technical competence in the above areas; a solid publication record; and strong coding and optical lab skills. The willingness and ability to acquire new skills and knowledge as needed during the project; to work effectively and cooperatively with others; and to manage time effectively is expected. Other desired qualifications include optical fabrication and control system design and experience. The applicant must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
