The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus is currently searching for applicants to teach courses in the area of Embedded Systems Design.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, and completion of all requirements by the date of hire.
Embedded Systems Design: Special interest will be given to candidates with experience in embedded systems design, hardware description languages, rapid systems prototyping, reconfigurable systems, computer architecture, microprocessors/microcontrollers, real-time embedded software design, sensor fusion, cyber-physical systems, and information processing, among others. The ideal candidate should have expertise in both hardware and software design and integration, system-level design & modeling, and cross-discipline application development. Additional areas of expertise desired in applicants include but are not limited to smart sensor design, instrumentation, and VLSI Systems. Exceptional candidates with a background in areas related to scientific receiver design for radio-astronomy and environmental sensing applications at microwave and mm-wave frequencies (analog front-ends and digital back-ends), analog (microwave) and digital signal processing, and microwave and mm-wave spectrum monitoring systems and components will also be considered. Candidates for tenure-track positions must provide evidence of outstanding potential in research and teaching.
If your native language is not Spanish, you should be able to communicate fluently in English and, by the end of your tenure-track appointment, be able to communicate effectively in Spanish.
JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES
The selected candidate will initially fulfill research and teaching obligations for the Center for Advanced Radio Sciences and Engineering (CARSE) and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, respectively. The person selected is expected to develop creative research activities pertinent to CARSE, interact with researchers and students in the Center, advise graduate students, publish research results in peer-reviewed conferences and journals, attract external research funding, and contribute to the Education, Outreach, and Workforce Development, and the Innovation and Collaboration Ecosystem activities of the Center. The selected candidate is also expected to teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels or coordinate teaching laboratories in the ECE Department, participate in continuous improvement and assessment activities of our academic programs, participate in faculty committees, participate in outreach activities, and support general academic service activities in the Department.
