The Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering at Lawrence Technological University invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor position in Architectural Engineering, starting as early as January 2020. The Master of Architectural Engineering (MSAE) is a five year, integrated bachelors-masters program within the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering. The program is ABET accredited. Lawrence Tech is strategically located in the largest engineering market in Michigan, with opportunities for faculty involvement with major projects, firms and organizations. The department offers state-of-the-art facilities for research in a variety of areas including the $11 million Center for Innovative Materials Research (CIMR).
The successful candidate will work closely with faculty within the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering. In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in architectural engineering, other responsibilities include taking a leading role as the building controls, lighting and electrical system curriculum coordinator for the architectural engineering program. Successful candidates are expected to seek funded research projects, participate in graduate/undergraduate student advising and perform services beneficial to the University. Candidates are expected to have a strong teaching background with a teaching philosophy that matches well with the strategic plan of the University.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in architectural engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field with expertise in electrical, power, lighting, daylighting and building controls. We seek applicants with strong background in both theoretical and/or experimental aspects of architectural engineering, and are interested in applying their skills to innovative, multi-disciplinary research problems. Candidates with practical architectural engineering experience as well as possessing professional licensure are highly desirable.
