A Ph.D. position is available to join the Autonomous Robots and Systems Laboratory (https://arsl.charlotte.edu/) at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte starting in Fall 2024. The lab focuses on design of control and motion planning algorithms for unmanned atmospheric and marine vehicles, including for multi-vehicle systems. This opportunity will provide exposure and training in several areas relevant to robotics, including: vehicle dynamics, estimation, control, graph theory, optimization, and motion planning. The student will also gain practical experience developing and deploying autonomous aerial or marine robots.
All highly-motivated applicants who will possess a BS or MS degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, computer, aerospace), robotics, computer science, or a related field by August 2024 are encouraged to apply. Prior experience working with robotic hardware and a strong mathematical background in one or more areas relevant to robotics and control is desired. Applicants must meet admissions requirements set forth by the UNC Charlotte Graduate School and the William States Lee College of Engineering.
