About the Department
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Florida A & M – Florida State University (FAMU- FSU) College of Engineering houses separate Bachelor’s degree programs in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering, as well as a Master’s degree program in Electrical Engineering at the FSU Panama City campus in Panama City, FL. These programs are ABET-accredited and focus on providing students essential skills for developing computer hardware and software, as well as the ability to engage in additional instruction and research experiences in specialized areas such as robotics, digital systems, data structures, computer architecture, cybersecurity, computer networks, and image processing.
We invite applications for a teaching faculty position in our Electrical and Computer Engineering Program at the FSU Panama City campus in Panama City, FL. This position is being advertised as a 9- or 12-month, full-time, specialized, non-tenure track teaching faculty position with opportunities for promotion and multi-year contracts. Appointment will begin in Fall 2020 and consideration will be provided for an earlier start date if circumstances warrant it.
Primary responsibilities are a) teaching courses in the undergraduate Electrical and Computer Engineering programs, b) teaching graduate-level courses as needed in the MS program in Electrical Engineering, c) working closely with students and mentoring student senior design projects – with potential for engagement with Master’s theses, and d) participating in service activities, such as recruiting and advising students and other duties relevant to the campus mission. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (or closely related field) from an accredited institution (must be conferred by start date of the position) and have a strong collegiate teaching record. High quality teaching is expected in digital logic, microprocessors, VHDL, computer architecture and senior design courses with flexibility for teaching labs and areas such as image processing, cybersecurity, programming languages, computer networks, and other Computer Engineering courses.
Preference will be given to those with experience successfully mentoring student research, senior design projects, and Master’s theses. Experience with online learning management systems and a passion for student academic success are also highly preferred.
