Job Description Summary

The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering invites applications for a non-tenure-track Lecturer in Engineering. We are seeking applications from individuals with a minimum of a master’s degree at the time of employment in any one area of engineering such as: aerospace, biosystems, chemical, civil and environmental, computer science and software, electrical and computer, industrial and systems, mechanical, and materials engineering at the time employment begins. Also of interest are related fields of advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, biomedical engineering, cyber security, model-based systems engineering, microelectronics, transportation systems, and wireless systems.

The appointment will be for nine months and is renewable annually. Additional teaching opportunities in the summer may also be available and are subject to the availability of funds. Renewal is contingent on available funding, need for services, and satisfactory performance.  The primary responsibility of a successful candidate for this position is to teach a selection of undergraduate engineering courses required of students of a given academic department. The successful candidate will be expected to bring experience, innovation, enthusiasm, technology, and leadership to the courses that they will teach. Under typical circumstances, the teaching load will be three courses per semester, which includes course and laboratory development and management activities. In addition to instructional duties, successful candidates will contribute to the instructional mission of the department through participation on faculty committees and be expected to mentor students through possible participation in student organizations, competition activities, and other mentoring and knowledge enhancement opportunities.

Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. Review of applications will begin after June 1, 2025 and continue throughout the year as positions become available.

Minimum Qualifications

The selected candidates for these positions must have a demonstrated record of teaching engineering courses, be able to communicate effectively in English, and have a minimum of a master’s degree in an engineering discipline at the time of employment. Successful candidates must be able to meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment

Desired Qualifications

A doctoral degree in engineering disciplines is desired.

Special Instructions to Applicants

Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vita, statement of teaching philosophy, unofficial transcripts and names (names only, letters not required at application time) of three references (teaching evaluations may also be submitted optionally).
