Research Opportunities

Research and develop new signal and image processing methods in the Biomedical area

 

Work description

Monitoring of biomedical signals has been growing exponentially with the introduction of new wearables in the market. Their analysis and understanding is of utmost importance to provide objective and explainable information to their users and often even to the clinicians involved.

This grant aims to work with new wearable devices developed by C-BER to obtain and process biomedical signals and apply processing and classification techniques according to defined scenarios.

 

Academic Qualifications

  • Student in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering or similar areas.

 

Minimum profile required

  • Extensive knowledge of biomedical signal and image processing methods.
  • Some knowledge of machine learning techniques and advanced statistics.
  • Prior familiarity with the healthcare sector and its challenges.

 

Preference factors

  • Previous development of signal processing algorithms in the health area.
  • Willingness to continue the work on a master's thesis work.

 

Maintenance stipend: € 651,12, according to the table of monthly maintenance stipend for FCT grants , paid via bank transfer. Grant holders may be awarded potential supplements, according to a quarterly evaluation process (Articles 19, 21 and 22 of the Regulations for Grants of INESC TEC and Annex II), up to a maximum limit of 50% of the monthly maintenance stipend.

 

INESC TEC supports costs with registration, enrolment or tuition fees, during the grant duration, under the terms established in the internal document: "Payment of Tuition fees to grant holders".

 

The grant holder will benefit from health insurance, supported by INESC TEC.
