    The Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering (CSEE) at University at Buffalo (UB) invites candidates to apply for the positions of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor. We are particularly looking for candidates who can operate effectively in a team environment and in a diverse community of students and faculty and share our vision of helping all constituents reach their full potential.

    The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels, mentor graduate students, advise students at all levels and maintain an active research program. Interdisciplinary work is encouraged. The successful candidate for an Associate Professor or Full Professor position should have a record of scholarly accomplishments, teaching experience and a sustained externally funded research program. CSEE desires applicants who can contribute to the transportation systems engineering area. The new position will expand and strengthen the current faculty capacities of the Stephen Still Institute for Sustainable Transportation and Logistics (ISTL), a joint initiative between the UB School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and the School of Management. Desirable areas of research expertise include transportation systems engineering but are not limited to, one or more of the following: emerging technologies in transportation that go beyond connected and automated transportation applications (e.g. urban air mobility, flying cars); transportation or infrastructure systems design and management; public-private partnerships; travel behavior modeling; transportation safety and security; analysis of driving behavior; statistical or econometrics modeling in transportation with an emphasis on addressing multiple layers of unobserved heterogeneity and transferability; and integration of statistical or econometric modeling and emerging source of transportation data (e.g. naturalist data, driving simulation data; etc.). Experience in engineering education is also highly desirable.

    The successful candidates will be expected to seek collaborative opportunities with MCEER, the Institute for Bridge Engineering, the UB Center for Computational Research and other campus-wide initiatives.
