  • Postdoctoral Research Associate
    Transportation and Urban Infrastructure Studies
    Morgan State University

    One Postdoctoral Associate position is available immediately for highly motivated individuals with a strong background in Transportation Engineering, Smart Cities, Connected and Automated Vehicles, Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML), Big Data Analytics, and/or Applied Statistics.


    The successful candidate will join Prof. Di Yang’s lab at Morgan State University in the Department of Transportation and Urban Infrastructure Studies, affiliated with the SMARTER University Transportation Center and the National Transportation Center. The overarching research focuses include developing new or applying existing AI/ML, statistical, and/or data-driven models to address emerging transportation issues in the fields of smart mobility, traffic safety, and smart cities. The initial appointment is 12 months, but multiple-year extension is possible depending on performance and availability of funding.

    Required qualifications:



    • Ph.D. degree in the following fields from an accredited college or university: transportation engineering, mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and/or other relevant STEM fields.

    • Hands-on experience with computing and programming in Python, Matlab, C/C++, or other object-oriented programming languages, as well as R, Julia, Stan, WinBUGS, and so on.

    • Strong interest and self-motivation to perform cutting-edge research and overcome challenges in real-world engineering and to publish high-impact papers


    Preferred qualifications:



    • Strong background in linear algebra, probability theory, and computational mathematics.

    • Experience in developing machine learning models using Pytorch, TensorFlow, and/or other relevant packages/platforms.

    Salary Range: $55,000 to $65,000 plus benefits.
