    Research Opportunity


    Power systems – Design and optimization of the electrical system of hybrid offshore parks


    Work description



    • Development of the frameworks for the design and optimization of the layout of hybrid offshore parks regarding the presence of wind turbines, wave energy converters, and floating photovoltaic systems.

    • Development of the frameworks for reliability-oriented techno-economic optimization of the electrical system of the hybrid offshore parks.

    • Development of the optimization tools for the layout and electrical system design of the hybrid offshore parks. Preparation of reports based on the results/findings and dissemination of the work in papers.


    Minimum profile required



    • Experience in the optimization studies in the area of the electrical energy systems.

    • Basic knowledge in the area offshore renewable energy parks and the electrical energy collection systems.


    Preference factors



    • Experience in research studies regarding multi-source offshore renewable energy parks.

    • Experience in the implementation of electrical system optimization for renewable energy parks using Python.


    Maintenance stipend: € 990,98 or 1259,64, according to the table of monthly maintenance stipend for FCT grants , paid via bank transfer. Grant holders may be awarded potential supplements, according to a quarterly evaluation process (Articles 19, 21 and 22 of the Regulations for Grants of INESC TEC and Annex II), up to a maximum limit of 50% of the monthly maintenance stipend. INESC TEC supports costs with registration, enrolment or tuition fees, during the grant duration, under the terms established in the internal document: "Payment of Tuition fees to grant holders".


    The grant holder will benefit from health insurance, supported by INESC TEC.
