The Industrial and Entrepreneurial Engineering & Engineering Management Department (IEE&EM) at Western Michigan University (WMU) is accepting applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in Engineering Management. Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in Engineering Management (EM) or Industrial Engineering (IE) or a related field or will have completed all the requirements for the Ph.D. in EM or IE or a related field by August 15, 2025, from an ABET-accredited department in a college of engineering. Candidates must show clear potential for effective in-person teaching in engineering or engineering technology at the undergraduate or graduate levels; published independent research in Industrial Engineering and/or Engineering Management fields through authorship or co-authorship of peer reviewed conference proceedings and/or journals. Relevant industrial experience, full-time teaching experience at a college, a track record of successful grant writing, and online teaching experience are desired.
Applicants must be able to provide instruction in traditional areas of Engineering Management. Expertise in the areas of leadership, organizational behavior, applied data analytics (including AI), project management, supply chain, decision analysis, and risk analysis are desired. Additionally, it is anticipated that this individual will develop new coursework in their field of expertise.
WMU’s IEE&EM Department is an integral player in research in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences (CEAS). Desirable candidates are expected to work closely with the CEAS faculty and to obtain external funding from regional and national providers, research foundations, and federal funding agencies. In addition, candidates’ research areas are expected to complement the department’s expertise in data analytics, Industry 4.0, healthcare, and advanced engineering management practices.
The IEE&EM Department offers an ABET-accredited undergraduate engineering degree in Industrial & Entrepreneurial Engineering, an ABET-accredited undergraduate degree in Engineering Management Technology, an MSE in Industrial Engineering, an MS in Engineering Management, and a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering. The CEAS has seven academic departments, with programs in engineering, engineering technology, and applied sciences, and is located on a 270-acre engineering campus. This site includes a state-of-the-art engineering complex and a Business Technology & Research Park.
