    GRA POSITION – Urban Microclimate, Local Turbulence Characterization, and AI-Driven Modeling


    The Multiscale Multiphysics Modeling and Data-Driven Analysis of Thermofluids (M3TFluiD) Lab at Cleveland State University is seeking highly motivated Ph.D. students to join a multi-year project focused on advancing climate-adaptive urban microclimate modeling using reduced-order modeling, CFD, and machine learning.


    Students will work on one or a combination of the following focus areas with applications to smart city and environmental resilience:




    • AI-enhanced fluid dynamics and surrogate modeling




    • Wind engineering and hazard mitigation




    • Neighborhood-scale urban flow and pollution modeling




    • Reduced-order modeling for flow and heat transfer analysis




    Eligibility:




    • BSc/MSc in mechanical, aerospace, civil, or applied mathematics




    • Degree earned in 2020 or later




    • At least one first-author peer-reviewed publication




    • Strong coding (Python/C++) and CFD skills (ANSYS/OpenFOAM/StarCCM+)




    Preferred:




    • Background in thermal-fluids, smart city planning, AI/data analytics, and physics-informed modeling



    • Proven skills in multifidelity and hybrid CFD modeling and data-driven analysis

    • Proven skills in integrated computational and experimental fluid dynamics


    • U.S. citizens/green card holders preferred; international students welcome
