Smart medical devices (microprogramming and signal processing)

Work description

• Research and development of algorithms for analyzing signals acquired in real time by a system with integrated sensors, which will perform measurements, for example, of electromyography and inertial data.


• Objective and efficient feature identification and recognition of personalized patterns for integration into mobile applications for users to improve their performance.


• Collaboration on a research, development, and innovation project in the healthcare and textile sectors, to create smart clothing with physiological sensing.


• Collaboration with project partners in signal collection and database organization.


• Collaboration in the writing of scientific articles and work reports.

Academic Qualifications

• BSc.

Minimum profile required

• Student in Biomedical Engineering or related areas.

Preference factors

• Good knowledge of programming and signal processing.

Maintenance stipend: € 1309.64, according to the table of monthly maintenance stipend for FCT grants , paid via bank transfer. Grant holders may be awarded potential supplements, according to a quarterly evaluation process (Articles 19, 21 and 22 of the Regulations for Grants of INESC TEC and Annex II), up to a maximum limit of 50% of the monthly maintenance stipend.

INESC TEC supports costs with registration, enrolment or tuition fees, during the grant duration, under the terms established in the internal document: "Payment of Tuition fees to grant holders".

The grant holder will benefit from health insurance, supported by INESC TEC.
