    Job Description Summary


    The National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT) at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Director and Research Professor. This is a non-tenure track faculty position which will provide vision, leadership, support, and coordination for the asphalt research, education, and programs at NCAT which is part of the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering.
    The externally funded research and outreach program at NCAT deals with asphalt pavements. Candidates must have an outstanding record of peer-reviewed published work in one or more of the following categories: advanced asphalt materials testing and characterization, life-cycle assessment, mechanistic modeling of flexible pavements, sustainable use of recycled materials in asphalt pavements, pavement performance evaluation, pavement management, tire-pavement interaction, and air and water quality issues related to asphalt pavements.

    Appointment as a Research Professor requires demonstrated abilities to initiate and maintain a program of research or creative activity supported by contracts, grants or other designated funds. Appointees in the research title series are not eligible for tenure. A Research Professor shall be appointed with a one-year contract that may be renewed annually, or if for a lesser period of time, the period of funding from the contract, grant or other designated funds. All appointees in the research title series will have annual, written employment contracts. Appointees are eligible for all the benefits of tenure-track faculty except tenure and professional improvement leave.

    Minimum Qualifications


    Applicants must have an earned Doctorate in Civil Engineering or another related field at the time of employment. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills are required.
