    The Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (MSFEA) at the American University of Beirut is seeking to fill Multiple Tenure-Track and Visiting Faculty Positions with an expected starting date of August 2024 or earlier in Chemical Engineering (areas: Biochemical Engineering, Sustainability, and Energy Storage), Electrical & Computer Engineering (areas: Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Hardware Systems), Industrial Engineering (All areas with preference for Data Science, Operations Research, Human Factors Engineering, Project Management,Healthcare Management, Manufacturing Systems, Sustainable Operations, and the Circular Economy), Mechanical Engineering (Design, Materials, Manufacturing, Mechatronics/ Robotics, AI, and ML a plus), Civil and Environmental Engineering (Construction Engineering, Materials and Pavement Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Water Resources Engineering), Architecture and Design (Architecture Design, Pedagogy, and Theory), Graphic Design (history and criticism of local and regional graphic design practice), and Urban Design (preferably with grounding in landscape ecology or related fields).


    With a total enrollment of approximately 2600 undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. students, MSFEA is comprised of approximately 100 professorial rank and 80 part-time faculty members, and houses five departments and one school. Our undergraduate Engineering degree programs are ABET accredited. In recent years, MSFEA has embarked on major initiatives to leverage digital technology in teaching and learning, incorporating human-centered design in engineering pedagogy, engaging industry in research and development, graduating entrepreneurs, and establishing research programs that leverage the unique circumstances of Lebanon to make progress on global challenges.


    Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut bases its educational philosophy, standards, and practices on the American liberal arts model of higher education. A teaching-centered research university, AUB has more than 700 full-time faculty members and 7850 students from more than 90 countries. It offers programs leading to Bachelor's, Master's, MD, and Ph.D. degrees. The student body is 51 percent female, and the language of instruction is English. AUB ranks 226, according to QS World University Rankings 2024. Set on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, the University has a green campus dotted with historic and contemporary buildings, a state-of-the-art athletics complex, and is located in the heart of the vibrant city of Beirut. It is also located less than one hour’s drive from the slopes of Mt. Lebanon and has a wide variety of hiking, caving, and cycling terrain.


    Salary is commensurate with education and experience.  The University offers an extensive benefits package, including 100% tuition support for children of faculty, from KG through Bachelor’s degree.
