    Postdoctoral Research Position in Orthodontic Biomechanics


    An NIH-funded postdoctoral research position is immediately available at Purdue University Indianapolis. My lab is developing new technologies to accelerate orthodontic tooth movement. Research tasks include finite element analysis, instrumentation design, animal experiment, and CT image analysis. The postdoctoral scholar will also be expected to coordinate with a multidisciplinary team, including engineers, biologist, statistician, and dentists. 


    Qualifications: Before starting the position, applicants should have completed a PhD in mechanical, biomedical engineering, or a related field, preferably with a concentration in biomechanics.  A highly motivated candidate with an experimental background, a strong publication record, and knowledge of biological systems is preferred. Good written and verbal communication skills is required.  Applicants will be expected to integrate into a multidisciplinary biomechanical/biomedical engineering laboratory comprised of faculty, postdocs, graduate students and undergraduate students. 


    The Dental Biomechanics lab:  Dr. Jie Chen’s lab is located close to Indianapolis downtown.  Dr. Chen is a member of the Indiana Center for Musculoskeletal Health, which brings together large and diverse group of 40+ musculoskeletal researchers and organizes a weekly journal club, external seminar speakers, and a number of educational/career development opportunities.
