  • PhD Scholarship in Hydraulic Engineering Up for Grab
    Department of Civil & Natural Resources Engineering
    University of Canterbury

    This PhD position in the University of Canterbury will participate in a cutting-edge interdisciplinary research project, which focuses on developing a novel technology for pipeline condition assessment in the network scale, leveraging state-of-the-art signal processing and machine learning algorithms. This research is funded by a 3-year PhD scholarship with 30k NZD stipends + tuition per year. In the project, you will work closely and supervised by prestigious academics, including Prof. Pedro Lee (top 0.1% researcher in the area) and Dr. Derek Li (Karl Emil Hilgard hydraulic price winner). Your research will involve comprehensive experiments, algorithm development and data processing.


    Expectation:



    • Academic background in hydraulic engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, fluid mechanics, physics or acoustics

    • Sophisticated programming skills 

    • Dedicated to experimental works

    • Fluent in English communication and writing (University requires minimum IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 90)

    • Candidates with research experience or publication record will be advantaged.

    • Candidates with signal processing or machine learning experience will be advantaged.
