  • Optofluidics is an emerging field that benefits from the combination of optical components, such as nano-scale sensors, with small-scale fluidics (microfluidics). The research of Dr. Escobedo involves the research and development of optofluidic-based technology for (1) biomedical applications and (2) cell research. Target biomedical applications include remote health monitoring, point-of-care diagnostics and assisted reproduction micro-technology. Target cell studies include single cell interrogation technology to study the fate of cells undergoing the effect of chemicals (e.g. cancer drug therapeutics), disease, or mutation
