My research program focuses on locomotion biomechanics and assistive device development. We use methods from dynamic systems modeling, control theory, and movement analysis to investigate issues related to musculoskeletal biomechanics and rehabilitation engineering. Recent work has involved developing a number of improved methods to quantify locomotion and postural control mechanics. We are also exploring the utility of novel portable powered ankle-foot orthoses (exoskeletons) as enhanced gait assistance and rehabilitation tools for people with lower limb disability.
