Three lecturer positions in Computer Science are available at Tennessee Tech University. Full-time, nine-month, non-tenure-track positions will begin August 1, 2026. Three-year contracts are renewable based on a satisfactory performance review. Selected candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate courses, engage in service, and advise students on professionalism and career opportunities. The ideal candidates are those who share the university’s mission and commitment to student success. Assistance will be provided to explore opportunities for dual-career couples, both within and outside the University.

Minimum qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited institution in computer science or a closely related field by the start date of employment. Ability for teaching excellence at the undergraduate level. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred qualifications: Earned doctorate or completion of all coursework (ABD) from an accredited institution in computer science or a closely related field by the start date of employment. All areas of expertise in computer science will be considered, with a preference given to candidates with undergraduate teaching experience in core topics including programming, data structures, algorithms, theory, databases, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and software engineering.

About the Department


TNTech’s Department of Computer Science has an ABET-accredited program in Computer Science, 25 full-time faculty members, and approximately 800 students (700 undergraduate and 100 graduate students in our M.S. and Ph.D. programs). The department conducts comprehensive teaching and research in both basic and applied aspects of computer science. Research activities in the department are broadly categorized into Information Assurance & Security, Data Science & Artificial Intelligence, and High-Performance & Distributed Computing. The department has multiple funded research programs from the National Science Foundation, the Department of Energy, and the Department of Defense that are currently active. It also maintains collaborations across campus, with other colleges and universities, with local, statewide, regional, and national corporations, as well as with Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The Department of Computer Science values innovation, collaboration, and opportunity for all students. We are committed to creating an environment where every learner can succeed and make meaningful contributions to the computing community. Through endowed scholarships, mentoring initiatives, and academic partnerships, the department actively supports first-generation students and expands pathways to computing careers for students across Tennessee and the region.
