The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in Monterey California seeks applications for multiple tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Ideal applicants should demonstrate experience leading externally funded defense-relevant research programs and have a track record of effective graduate-level instruction, or, for junior applicants, potential for the same. The department has opportunities for applicants specializing in research areas within mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, as well as materials sciences and engineering. The Department seeks candidates who demonstrate both a record of outstanding scholarship and contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We are particularly interested in attracting candidates who can contribute to the diversity of the NPS community through their teaching, scholarship, and service.
The Naval Postgraduate School is an accredited graduate school whose students are drawn from the armed forces and civilian agencies of the United States and other countries. Review of applications will begin on 16 January 2024. Additional applications will be considered until the position is filled. The anticipated start date is the fall of 2024.
Applications should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statements on teaching and research interests, and the names and contact information of at least three references. Applications should be submitted via email to:
mae_application@nps.edu.
The minimum required qualifications are:
- PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field at the time of appointment,
- Eligibility for a Secret clearance, and
