The Department of Civil Engineering at McGill University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Water Resources Engineering, preferably at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The Department has established research activities in environmental, structural, geotechnical, transportation, and water resources engineering.

The Department is committed to excellence in teaching across its undergraduate and graduate programs in Civil Engineering, and values service contributions of its faculty members to the University, the profession and society at large.

Preferred qualifications include a demonstrated dedication to fostering an environment that supports a diverse population and a range of perspectives. As our students come from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and backgrounds, we invite candidates to explain in their application how they will effectively teach, supervise, and mentor within this context.

Membership or eligibility for membership in a Canadian professional engineering association is required.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a closely related field, with a first degree in Civil Engineering. Evidence of outstanding research achievements, or research potential, is essential.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have demonstrated research and teaching expertise in the broad area of water resources and/or hydraulic engineering. Areas of specialization may include, but not limited to: Environmental hydraulics; Hydrodynamics and flood risk in rivers and coastal waters; Fluid mechanics for energy and environmental sustainability; and Urban hydrosystem management.

A strong background in both experimental and numerical research is required.
